Sculptural Fiber Workshop
Saturday & Sunday, 10 am – 4 pm
October 25 & 26, 2008 (2 sessions)
This Workshop is an introduction to sculptural construction using fiber and raw materials of all kinds coupled with the use of some age-old, ingenious, handwork techniques such as knitting, weaving, felting, etc. Through class demonstrations and individual exercises, the student will gain insight into the potentials of these low-tech and accessible methods and materials as well as an understanding of some of the elements involved in creating three-dimensional works. We will explore the innovative use of materials ranging from wire to wool, and drawing from both manufactured and natural environments. Past and present artists working in these mediums will also be investigated.
